ROUND 3 REVIEW

KNIGHTS DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH AS THE TERRIERS SETTLE FOR A POINT

It was another slow start for our first-grade boys as they conceded an early goal seeing them go behind 1-0. The Terriers wouldn’t find themselves behind for long as some nice play in the middle saw a beautifully weighted pass from Andy Klijn, find striker Tim Knight in his stride who dispatched the ball with the outside of his foot from 25yards to beat Berkley Vale goalkeeper to level the scores.

A tightly contested battle all over the park saw few chances for both sides as the game continued, but again it would be Berkley Vale who hit back in front, after winning a penalty and converting it home.

As the Terriers continued to push on and look for an equaliser, they had their chance from the spot after Tim Knight latched onto a through ball and was brought down in the box. Adam Smith stepped up to the spot for the Terriers but unfortunately couldn’t convert. As the game seemed like it would finish with the Terriers on the wrong side of the score line, it was some great play down the right-hand side from Blake Silvers who got the better of his man before sending the ball across the face of the goal to find potent striker Tim Knight once again on the back post who was there to put the ball away and level the scores.

Our reserve grade boys once again started brightly on the front foot getting an early goal after some nice work from Seth Hedley who managed to get to the by-line and flash the ball across the face of the goal which found the feet of Declan Ackerley who finished it off. But that was where the tide would turn for the terriers conceding two own goals at the end of the first half. The boys came out pushing to regain their grip on the game but were unable and as they pushed numbers forward saw them concede two late goals to see the score blow out to 4-1.

The u21s struggled to get into the game in the first half conceding two goals, seeing them enter the break 2-0 down. With changes made at half time the young terriers came out a rejuvenated side and were unlucky to not have an early goal with a header from Conner Shepherd be disallowed, as well as another chance from Josh Lahye hit the woodwork. The Terriers got their goal back through a nice finish from Cory Driene who found the back of the net with a nice strike. As the boys continued to through men forward to get that equaliser, they again conceded a third to finish the game off.
