ROUND 2 REVIEW

TERRIERS KICK START THEIR SEASON

First grade hit the road to face a young, energetic newly promoted East Gosford side who were ready to put their mark on the competition. Chances were few and far between for either side in the first half with both teams going into the break on even terms.

After an even first half with not much to split the two teams, the Terriers came out from the break on the front foot. Starting to create a few more chances in the early stages of the second half the Terriers really got on top of their opposition but were unable to capitalise on their chances.

A tactical change from coach Chris Ackerley, saw young Will Hamilton push further forward and it paid off late in the half as he pounced onto a loose ball in the box, getting his toe in and placing it past the East Gosford goalkeeper. This turned out to be the decisive match winner for the Terriers as they held out keeping their first clean sheet of the season and claiming their first win also.

Reserve grade after going down 1-0 in the first half showed the resilience and fight that has been showed so many times over the years to see them come from behind to claim their first win of the season. Goals to Chase Huxtable and a late winner from Dave Wells saw the boys go in front and hold on to win 2-1.

Third grade, after starting brightly and scoring a early goal through some nice build up play that was finished off at the back post by Noah Hamilton saw the boys take a 1-0 lead early. This lead didn’t last long after conceding an own goal. With chances few and far between in the second half, East Gosford look like they had scored the winner late on, but once again the Terriers showed that never give up attitude they are known for and found themselves a late equaliser through a thunderbolt header from captain Keenan Lilley.
